Classification on the average of random walks

چکیده
We introduce a new method for studying large scale properties of random walks. The new concepts of transience and recurrence on the average are compared with the ones introduced in [1] and with the usual ones; their relationships are analyzed and various examples are provided.

A PRELUDE TO THE THEORY OF RANDOM WALKS IN RANDOM ENVIRONMENTS
A random walk on a lattice is one of the most fundamental models in probability theory. When the random walk is inhomogenous and its inhomogeniety comes from an ergodic stationary process, the walk is called a random walk in a random environment (RWRE). The basic questions such as the law of large numbers (LLN), the central limit theorem (CLT), and the large deviation principle (LDP) are ...
متن کاملA Comparison of Random Walks in Dependent Random Environments
Although the theoretical behavior of one-dimensional random walks in random environments is well understood, the actual evaluation of various characteristics of such processes has received relatively little attention. This paper develops new methodology for the exact computation of the drift in such models. Focusing on random walks in dependent random environments, including k-dependent and mov...
متن کاملText Classification by Markov Random Walks with Reward
We propose a novel model for semisupervised classification by bringing in reward in Markov random walks. Both angle and distance metrics for vectors are combined in this model. Taking advantage of absorbing states, transient analysis of Markov chain can be performed more easily, based on Markov random walks. Diffusion of unlabeled data points makes our approach suffer less from error propagatio...
متن کاملRecurrence for persistent random walks in two dimensions
We discuss the question of recurrence for persistent, or Newtonian, random walks in Z2, i.e., random walks whose transition probabilities depend both on the walker’s position and incoming direction. We use results by Tóth and Schmidt–Conze to prove recurrence for a large class of such processes, including all “invertible” walks in elliptic random environments. Furthermore, rewriting our Newtoni...
متن کاملRandom walks on hypergroup of conics in finite fields
In this paper we study random walks on the hypergroup of conics in finite fields. We investigate the behavior of random walks on this hypergroup, the equilibrium distribution and the mixing times. We use the coupling method to show that the mixing time of random walks on hypergroup of conics is only linear. Mathematics Subject Classifications: 60D05, 11A99. Keywoords: random walks, hypergroups,...
